AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD
IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE METAL SPOONS/CONTAINERS. DO NOT REFRIGERATE. DO NOT COVER WITH AIR-TIGHT LID.
1st day: You receive the starter. Do nothing
2nd day: Transfer into larger plastic or glass container.
3rd day: stir
4th day: stir
5th day: Add 1 C. mik, 1 C. flour, 1 C. sugar
6th day: stir
7th day: stir
8th day: stir
9th day: stir
10th day: Add 1 C. milk, 1 C. flour, 1 C. sugr. Stir. Pour into 3 one cup containers and give to 3 friends with these instructions.
Remaining batter may be more than 1 cup, to which you add:
2/3 C. oil
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 C. flour
1 C. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 C. each of anything else you want; raisins, nuts, dates, bananas, apples, etc.
Pour into 2 well greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans.
